I am building a monolithic concrete dome house in rural southern Oregon in a wooded area. Less then 6 months ago the mountain we live on had a small fire that could have wiped out several homes. Fires are a real danger here on the west coast. According to Verisk's 2017 Wildfire Risk Analysis 4.5 million U.S. homes were identified at high or extreme risk of wildfire. Monolithic concrete houses are rated by FEMA as nearly disaster proof. FEMA has awarded grants for preventative structures.
