Pattern Maker / Technical Designer

The position is in Barcelona, and we need somebody that can came to the office. Position Purpose The Pattern Maker plays a pivotal role as the conduit in interpreting and translating design ideas and sketches and developing into highly rendered and polished digital assets for production and sample making. Also is responsible to build the Pattern Library. Key Responsibilities • Interpret design sketches to Manual Patternmaking or Computer Patternmaking software and creating technical specifications • Create the Pattern Library • Create 2/3 dimensional fabric patterns for our products and lines either freehand or using computer aided drafting software, from an existing sample or from a picture or design sketch • Create patterns and specifications based on creative briefs • Grade all styles either using Computer software or creating measurement tables • Liaise with designer, production and sample machinists on timely work flow, and ensuring all samples are cut and handed over to machinists in a timely manner • Ensure patterns/tech packs are created within agreed times • Feedback to designer any comments regarding technical construction or ideas for resolving technical issues • Attend fit sessions with Creative Director/Designers. Responsible for fit comments of 1st sample, 2nd sample if required and final SMS fit prior to collection launch • Finalise fit and comments of SMS post launch and prior to production commencing • Work closely with Creative Director in regards to fit and approved samples • Communicate any changes concisely with the aid of verbal and or diagram instructions in addition to an altered pattern • Responsible for resolving any issues with the quality control manager in the production process Knowledge & Educational Requirements • Tertiary qualification in Design in Fashion and Textiles or relevant experience • 10+ years’ experience working in a similar role as a Pattern Maker / Grader within the fashion and/or textile industry. • Experience in woman's/men’s/children’s fashion, sportswear, swimwear, accessories preferred. Skills & Attributes • Extensive experience in Pattern Making software, and Adobe Suite programs including: CAD, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator • Experience with offshore and local manufacturers • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively • Strong written and oral communication skills in both English & Spanish • Be able to meet deadlines • Adaptable and flexible in fast paced environments • Highly driven and energised • Clear and effective communicator at all levels internally and externally
