Customize a media player

Hi, Interesting project and I'd like to have a go, but look what VLC says on their dev site: "VLC is a complex program with many dependencies, so minimal command-line experience is required. Also, don't be in a hurry (4 hours is a minimum for the whole process) and don't despair if it doesn't work first time. " So, I know going back 8 seconds then pausing, etc., is a simple algorithm. But in reality it'll take many hours to get everything ready. So if we can agree that's it's not necessarily a fast job (unless we find an easier player - how about a web-based player?), we can discuss realistic $$ figures. I put $250 but it doesn't have to be. I think at best it'll take 5 hours if all goes well, but it could go up to 10. My hourly fee is $22 but I'm available for further discussion. Thanks for considering my services. Hello, I'm a freelancer, with 5years+ experience in enterprise environment. I've developed and modified code in C/C++, C#, VB, JAVA. I have 2years+ experience in developing interactive audio/video software. I can create a custom player from scratch, or modify an existing one, adding support for changing the timings as you need.

Hi, Matt S Rinc here and as long time software developer I am asking for possible idea implementation confirmation by you. While VLC (and other open source media players) can be customized and complied to standalone programs I would use the other way - scripting the player with another program. Tell me if this would be acceptable to you. Now that WinAmp player has lost future support VLC is the way to go. So - do you mostly use Windows or Mac e.g. on what computer would you like this script to run? It is possible to develop a solution for Windows, Mac and Linux but then a lot of additional programming is required (unless so called LUA scripting for VLC can be used for all platforms). Also - do you need to transcribe only MP3 or other formats as well (WAV, M4A etc)? Please expand that too. I will check the controling of VLC player in Windows with a script (that can also be exported as a standalone program so you would have VLC and Windows EXE with input fields to control the duration of playback and rewind interval).
