Additional note: This was originally posted a year ago - didn't find the time to push it to delivery so didn't want to award the project and not manage it properly. All good - will happen this time. Let me know your bids. Context: python script executing weekly to download data files from a real estate governmental site, parse them, and add to a mysql database. The script and the database both are hosted on pythonanywhere. Issue is the governmental website is now filtering for IP adresses coming from the governmental country, in that case Australia. Pythonanywhere servers are not located in Australia. Site to download from is: [login to view URL] Task required: Make the script work again by finding a way to comply with or workaround the IP location constraint. Both free (tor, free proxy) and paid (paid proxy, paid VPN) solutions are considered. VPS an overkill and will not be considered. Selection process: Please propose your solution at a high level and detail whether you have implemented that solution before. Most convincing on (1) reliability and (2) simplicity will win, bid price being a distant third criteria. Looking forward to it - thanks all.

Hello, (--Update--) I have checked it again and confirmed that Tor can be run as a daemon host process without any browser running, so I think it's very possibly a valid solution to your problem (by configuring it appropriately for AU exit gate) ---------------------- Setting Tor (browser) to work with specific country (as exit gate) is something I have used for automated scraping before. It's not fast but I believe it's reliable and for a task that runs once a week that speed should not be a problem. To be honest I am working frequently with Python but I haven't set up such stuff on top of "PythonAnywhere", so I guess one thing to examine about this solution is the compatibility of Tor with this platform.

Hi! I have created 350+ scraping projects in the past 12+ years. Many of them was high performance, high security sites with more severe issues. How does your scraper work? Does it use a browser to scrape or web request or something completely different, e.g. consuming a service? Because it will tell how IP address can be changed. If IPs are from Australia, tor or proxies may work. But the reliability is not 100 % for tor but it is fair. I can't recommend you free proxies. They are slow, changing and unreliable. However, hosting it on PythonAnywhere can have limitations on what you can use. E.g. a VPN software may not work or can't be installed. How about a free VPS? (I have always 3 free VPSes .) Because I'm sure that with a VPS, it can be solved. Would you spend $5-15/mo on a solution? You most likely should, but I might find a reliable free solution too. Only final testing will tell which works. Would you award me this job and start working on it? Best, George
