Tightly focused web application with good requirements spec

We're building a fun and simple web game. We've a proof of concept version of the application in Rails at [login to view URL] We've also a good Visual Identity ironed out (those are on our basecamp project site which you can get access to if you request it.) The demo is on a (Xen) based VPS ([login to view URL]) which we're happy with and will likely stay on for the first public release at least. We need a coder to take over the implementation of the requirements. Preferably someone with a good deal of experience implementing web application user interfaces, with an eye toward simple & usable UI. We're looking for someone that can code fast and that would enjoy getting paid to work on an "offbeat" project. The communication skill of the developer is just as important as their programming ability, but not because we're not capable of talking down at a detailed level on the tech side. We just want to make sure we hire someone that is into "measuring twice and cutting once" on the coding side. ## Deliverables i) Deliverable Features in order of priority: * Point System for rating band's albums * Image uploading and resizing for bands and albums, either directly within this web application or through sharing services with an open api (like flickr). * You'll need to be comfortable suggesting and taking some leadership on the "in between pages" of the information architectures, especially for the admin section. We simply haven't spec'd them out, but we'd like them to feel "done" not "tacked on to the project". * Working with us on either a simple to follow offline process or the Content API enabled automated process for moving image content into our CafePress store. * Integration of a [login to view URL] blog into the site (whether through mod_rewrite or moving the blog into the hosting server) ii) Ownership and form of deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows? (depending on the nature? of the deliverables): a)? For web sites or? other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software? installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). ## Platform We favor Debian Linux. We're open to moving on to another distro if we're comfortable with how well it's supported (and we prefer apt over rpm so you'll have to make sure that's working). We're pretty impressed with Rails for extremely rapid prototyping but would be fine with PHP or Python if you are more comfortable with it. Rails is attractive to continue on because it's all setup, but that's not to say we need to continue on it. We will be using MySQL for the database. We're looking for something built to purpose, not "implemented with" an existing "portal" web application solution. We will not consider solicitations to complete the project in J2EE or .Net as the project is not large enough to warrant such large platforms.
