Project: AR for iOS & Android

Attached is the project brief… We have undertaken further investigation on the project for delivering a Philips Augmented Reality TV buyers guide on Android and iPhone devices. We would like to utilise the Worklight [login to view URL] mobile platform making use of web technologies to create screens that are shareable across multiple device o/s and will also combine the work done on the AR piece which we will have to use native code and HTML / Javascript for rapidly developing for multiple platforms. Please advise me on costs and how we can proceed forward. We have until Sept 1 2011 to have this app delivered for both iOS and Android. Overview: First take a look at this app: [login to view URL] It’s nice to see apps that enables the consumer to use their phone as a fun gadget, this is one of them. Initial plan is to deliver a version of the app that provides at least the same level of functionality as demonstrated by the above mentioned app from Panasonic. From the first initial release we create a solid foundation for the app by employing the Worklight Mobile Platform. Its then down to our imaginations and innovative thinking to deliver better features for the mobile app and leverage the platforms full capabilities and in turn achieving higher number of downloads. Consider each download of the app as having a value of only $1 dollar. The KPI for this should be somewhere in the region of 50K > 100K downloads within 3-8 months timeframe. How can AR apps help the consumer? AR at home to fit the TV in your room Size and design are important drivers for consumers. To help them verify if the recommended TV fits in their room we can create an AR option in the mobile buyers guide where they can see the recommended TV in real time in their room. With the option to change size, TV, switch on/off Ambilight, print and share. Assumptions for Android version implementation 1. Application utilizes native look and feel, e.g. standard components will be used for User Interface. 2. This estimation assumes support of Android 2.1 (“Eclair”) and higher 3. Target device for testing should be specified – TBD with customer: i.e. HTC Desire 4. Testing will be performed by Android developer, but final testing and acceptance of the project is the customer’s responsibility.
