We have 2 NASes (DS1823xs+ and DS720+)
DS1823xs+ has 8 HDD with RAID5 Protection. Recently, the HDDs have been failing.
1st, 1 HDD failed, so I replaced that HDD with another. Then, while doing a RADI Resync, another HDD failed, so I replaced that too. Now, while Data Scrubbing 2 HDDs have failed.
Question 1: I am still determining what is happening, but can anyone help me troubleshoot this while I wait for official support? HDDs keep failing during data scrubbing or RAID resyncing
Question 2: DSM is asking me to remove and recreate the storage pool. If I do that, will it result in data loss? If yes, then any alternate solutions?
I have a backup NAS in which snapshots have been replicated.
Question 3: There seems to be WriteOnce enabled in the Shared folder. Will it affect my work in any way?
Question 4: Once the Primary NAS is fully restored, can you explain the process of syncing the new data back from the backup NAS to the primary NAS
Hello,
I have good experience in Linux and Synology
I will troubleshoot the issue.
Have you Utilized the built-in tools in DSM to check the S.M.A.R.T. status of the drives. This will give you an idea of the health of the drives.
Regards,
Vishnulal

Hi there! Thank you for considering me for your project. I understand that you are looking for help with troubleshooting failed HDDs during data scrubbing or RAID resyncing on your two Synology NASes, DS1823xs+ and DS720+.
I am a Linux Engineer and Full Stack Developer with extensive experience in Network Administration and web development.
I have worked on projects similar to this before and I am confident that my skillset would be the best fit for this task. My expertise includes troubleshooting software issues across various platforms, including NASes. This makes me well-suited to help you solve this problem.
I understand that DSM is asking you to remove and recreate the storage pool if needed in order to investigate the issue further. If so, this may cause data loss on the affected HDDs.
