Build a Website to Run Negotiations

Job: to create a website that allows researchers to conduct 2-party negotiations online. 1) Pairing: the system should be able to automatically pair participants, with one being seller and another being buyer. Before start, each participant should enter their unique ID such that researchers can track who has participated in order to give them reward. 2) Instruction: once paired, each negotiator will be presented with the same negotiation scenario but different instructions (buyer vs. seller). 3) Start: the negotiation starts from seller 4) After receiving an offer, the recipient should have 3 options: accept the offer, reject, or counteroffer (e.g., they can easily click their choice). If they choose to counter, they will be asked to enter their offer amount. 5) Once one negotiation is ended, a second scenario will automatically start. For the same pair, the role of seller and buyer remain the same. 6) When the entire study is completed, all participants will be directed to another webpage (URL). 7) During negotiation, no communication is allowed. Each player only makes his or her decisions and/or counteroffers. But if one player is too slow, the system will send him/her a reminder. 8) Data storage: each negotiator’s decision and counteroffer amount (if they choose to counter) in each round must be recorded and easily downloadable (e.g. .xls, .cvs files) . 9) Capacity: the webpage should allow 500 pairs of negotiation (the same scenario) being conducted simultaneously. 10) Easy to change materials: sometimes we need to conduct similar negotiations with different scenarios. For example, one negotiation is about car while another might be about house. The website should allow researchers to easily change materials.
