Hi, I am an electrical and electronics engineer by profession with more than 8 years of experience in design, engineering and trouble shooting of control panels, circuits and PLC systems. I am well experienced with the kind of work required for your project. Based on my understanding of your project, given below is my proposal. System will contain three major components. 1. Measurement Section : PCB circuit that measures voltage levels from both the battery and the generator. 2. Actuation Section : PCB circuit with Relays for connecting or disconnecting the generator, battery, charging circuit & AC mains. 3. Monitoring Section : PCB circuit for monitoring, controlling and reporting what the other two sections do. This consists of an industrial module or COTS MCU boards. All the three sections can be made on a single PCB or on multiple PCB, connected through headers. I personally would prefer different sections as it will reduce chance of failure and provide good isolation between the controller and the higher voltage parts of the system. Of course, the controller will be isolated from the other sections by using opto-isolated components. Timers, communication with external systems, displays, led indicators can all be customized in software on the controller. Once we have a one-to-one discussion regarding the specifics of your project, I can give you a much more detailed implementation plan, budget, time etc. I guarantee that I will meet and exceed your expectations.
