XYZ is an Australian regional law firm having two local offices located in - (i) Perth, Western Australia and (ii) Hobart, Tasmania. To establish a headquarter in Melbourne, Victoria, the company is constructing two adjacent buildings: (i) a two-story office building comprising 20 rooms and (ii) a single-story administration building with 10 rooms. The office building houses 30 computers, with additional 15 computers in the administration building. You are required to design a network (LAN) for the headquarter (enterprise campus) in Melbourne, Victoria. The enterprise campus will connect the two local offices. Therefore, you need to consider the WAN access in the LAN design for the enterprise campus. The new network will house a data centre, the e-commerce edge, and 6 printers. 4 printers will be installed in the different rooms of the office building, while the other two are to be installed in the administration building. An employee is allowed to have a printing service with any printer through the new network. Employees will bring their own mobile devices (e.g., laptops, smartphones, tablets) to work. Employees will use them to access required information such as their work email, required documents, and Internet through wireless communication facilities (Wi-Fi access points). You will also require to make some assumptions, so be sure to document your assumptions and explain why you have designed the network in this way. Requirements There are three parts of the requirements for this assignment – a) Report, b) simulation and c) Presentation. Hand drawn layouts for both logical and physical designs are fine. Using the building-block network design process, develop a logical design of the new network for the Victorian headquarter enterprise campus that considers the seven network architecture components. Network design tools 4. Deliverables T3. Briefly describe how you will minimise the interference from Wi-Fi access points (APs) on different floors. T4. You will make some assumptions; therefore, document your assumptions and explain why you have designed the network in this way. For only the headquarter (enterprise campus) located in Melbourne, Victoria, using the Packet Tracer, test and simulate the LAN you will develop for this assignment. For the simulation, you will consider one wired client computer and one wireless client computer for each of the two buildings (office and administrative buildings) currently being constructed in Melbourne, Victoria. Note, for the simulation, you do not need to consider the data centre, printers, e-commerce edge and WAN connected to two local offices located in Hobart and Perth. You will just consider the essential parts of the enterprise campus LAN so that you can test that a wired or wireless client computer of one building can communicate with a client computer of the other building.
