Hello, I have a ready sketch that does that, it pings google servers and according to the delays it estimates the internet speed, for now i'm only displaying the details of it in the serial monitor, showing it on the LCD wont be difficult. However, I am using and ESP 32 which is programmed using an arduino IDE and arduino sketch, and it has built in wifi and costs 8$.

WiFi ? if yes then you definitely need a WiFi module like ESP8266 It works with Arduino IDE pretty fine ESP can connect to your WiFi , run ping tests and send ping time (in ms) info to the display but, you need a modern display like OLED SSD1306, if internet comes from Ethernet, then we need Ethernet interface module Arduino can support kindly send me a message for more discussion please
