Search Engine - Solr Lucene Configuration - repost

We need help configuring solr for our search needs. We currently have a running instance of Solr and some indexed data. We need help with: - Configuring the schema - Setting configuration for edismax search handler (if edismax is the correct search to use) - Getting more relevant query results Our application is automobile/motorcycle related. Our search is very key to our application. You must have Solr experience. We will need a 1-2 week initial project, with expectations of ongoing support over the longer term. You can see more about what we need below: -------- We are using Solr/Lucene search engine running under Jetty. Our current configuration is that we have defined a schema with specific fields such as: manufacturer model color year number of “parks” number of “markers” (broken into types) etc... keywords and then a number of dynamic fields: wheels_s engine_s etc Then, we have a field “text”, which we copy all of the data values into as well. We are using edismax parser. Our search terms are generated in two different ways. user entered user selected User entered are just strings typed by the user, where user selected are specific selections based on our Solr schema (ie, color:yellow, manu:BMW). We use a couple different boost functions to boost by date, number of parks (popularity). I’ve also defined some boost values to different fields (although I’m sure they aren’t proper values). We are trying to determine whether our schema setup makes sense and what other setups we can utilize to make searches more accurate (boosts, match quality, synonyms, etc). I currently only have enough knowledge to be dangerous.
