Join should return less data than right join. By join I understand you mean inner join. Right join will return less data than original right join if you make sure that the keys for the left table participating in the join is null. Inner join means only matched data whereas If I do a RIGHT JOIN, I get all the records that match and IN ADDITION I get an extra record for each unmatched record in the right table of the join . An Inner join would faster than right join. Having said that in one circumstance under which a RIGHT JOIN might be faster than an INNER JOIN, and that is when: Some of the tables are very small (say, under 10 rows); The tables do not have sufficient indexes to cover the query. Hi, Right join doesn't work if column is not mentioned on which column you are joining two tables. So we need to use ON with right join. So, In that case If join is used with ON keyword too example --> join table b on a.id=b.user_id Then it will select less data than right join. But simple join works without mentioning the column on which column you want to join. In that case join will perform Multiplication of rows from both table. jpin returns records that have match in both tables right join will return all records from the right table even if there isnt a match in the other table . so if the right table has more records then right join will return more records than join in any case
