Fix Joomla component issue on php 7.2.x website

We have a custom joomla component in which occurs an php 500 error for one of the functionalities. The php error is a result of switching from php 5.6.x to php 7.2x The 500 error is visible when website is in debug mode. Something like "500 Error: Using $this when not in object context in home/.../.../ [login to view URL] Stack trace: #0"
