I am working in e-business / eCommerce for more than 20 years. This included customers like IKEA or Homemakers (US), so I am quite familiar with the challenges related to selling furniture online.
A lot of my customers decided to include drop shipping within their business model, either for parts or even for their complete product assortment. There are some strategies to cope with issues like delivery cost summing up on end-customer side, dealing with scheduled / two man delivery or consolidating availability data amongst various partners.
Other issues I have been dealing with have been in regards of international shipping / customs and legislation, as well as with shipping to different states within the US, taking into account tax legislation as well as environmental obligations (thinking of State of California, eg).
