Starting point A client software can talk to a machine through Ethernet. The machine has different sensors loaded which can be addresses with commands. Depending on the model of the machine there are two types of sensors which have to controlled: - Type 1: the sensors have two states: Initialized, running - Type 2: the sensors have three states: intialized, standby, running The machine is the server and can have several sensors, some are of type 1 some of type 2. A client program can talk with the server (the machine) through TCP/IP. The server has a TCP address and a port. What needs to be done We need a software which can control the machine and sensors. The software is the client and will talk to the machine (server) through Ethernet communication. - The client asks the machine what sensors it has (which sensor of Type 1 or Type 2) - The server responds with the type of the sensors - The client continously asks the machine in which stat each of the sensors is (every second) - The machine responds with the state of each of the sensors it currently is - The client has the ability to change the sensors to one of its states. As an example: the machine has two sensors of type 2 and both are in initialized position. The sensors both have to go to running state. The client knows that both sensors are in initialized state through asking it’s state. The client knows that the sensors are of type 2. It has to set the sensors first from their initialized mode to stand by mode and wait until it is in standy mode. The current state is gotten by polling the states. As soon as the sensors are in stand by mode the client sends the command to the sensors to change to running mode. As soon as the sensors are in running mode (asking through polling) the task has finished. - The changing from one state to the other is not of high frequency (around every minute). Hi, I am Delphi expert with 20 years of experience in various areas including hardware related applications (various sensors, devices, machines). From your description, project seems straightforward, I have few questions: Is there a manual for protocol used by machine? Type 1 sensors, do not have standby mode, are they immediatelly put in runnning mode? After sensor is in running mode, should app stop working/checking or it should constantly monitor? What should be displayed to user, just sensor type and mode it's in?

Hello there ^^ I'm delphi software developer ^^ well I used to deal with delphi since version 7 till the current one for now 10.2.3 Tokyo , well I used to create similar jobs just like the one you have mentioned ^^ I used to deal with machines and devices by sending commands VIA USB or ethernet using protocols like TCP/IP or UDP , using either INDY or other third party components or Windows API functions ^^ we could run it as service to keep it awake all time ^^ anyway just give me the green light and I will do my best ^^ best regards

Already developed server and client software in Delphi, communicating using TCP/IP proprietary protocols, using multithreading. Some examples: a licensing service to manage software licenses in a network (concurrent and/or named users, automatic updates, etc) and, a transaction server to manage a 3-layer line of business app transaction requests and software distribution. Although I am a newbie in freelancer world, I have worked Delphi since 1997 with Delphi 3 until Delphi Rad Studio 10.3 now. This is an interesting project with and interesting full state machine. I think is worth to model it before to start with Uml activities and states diagrams in order to understand all requirements. There are of course non functional requirements not indicated in your proposal. Which platform is the software supposed to run? There is some user interfaces with a human? If you wish I can send my resume.
