Hi, Hope you are well. I am looking for one main structural steel calculation and then some advice if thats ok? I have had all my plans passed, but since the original calcs were done I have slightly changed the plans. Original plans show a complete picture frame steel setup as the entire back of the house was going to be opened up. Instead now, I am going to keep the brick pillar between the left hand window and the patio doors (as shown in the attached photo).As a result the main steel will now only be 5.5m in length and will be going in above the steel shown on the photo, but will be extending over the single door to the right of the patio door. I am looking for the required steel size needed to support the upper floor and the pad stones needed for each end. There will be also a pitched roof being mounted on a wall plate running along almost as high as the second floor windows. The pitch will be single slope down towards the single storey extension wall that will be built. Just in case there needs to be any additional weight in the calculation for the steel with this additional roofing. I am looking to re-purpose the steel currently shown in the photo, above my new bi folds that I will be putting in as part of the extension. I am building the extension out of timber frame, so just wondering what the best fixing options are for the steel down in to the trimmers that will support the steel? I was going to join 3x 6x2 timbers to form the trimmers (jack studs) on each end of the steel. Would you deem that enough? Thanks. Kind regards Matthew.
