Im looking to have my site's CMS reviewed, optimized and altered in any way to decrease server load and maximize efficiency. The site currently gets over 400,000 uniques per day, and the amount of mysql queries constantly strains the server to a point where it starts displaying 500 errors. The site runs on a lighttpd server, so experience with it would be most welcome. Script is coded in php. The current server is already an 8 core, 4GB ram, SCSI HD beast, and mysql is responsible for 90% of the load, so optimization of mysql queries would probably be the field that will require most work. Caching might be a good idea as well. This job might (and probably will) extend beyond the 1 time payment, since if you are good, I will need your help in the future.
