Establish network communications between fuel accounting software and fuel pumps

We have four fueling locations using a Fuel Master pump controller connected to a Cradle Point wireless router with a static I/P to talk with Fuel Master software. We have been unable to establish reliable communications between the pump controller and software. The software and router configurations are simple FTP files using port forwarding. Software company blames router, router people blame software. I'm convinced it is a configuration issue.
