I am a first time writer who is currently writing a manuscript (a memoir) that I'd like to shop around to Australian publishers when the time is right. As this is my first potential book I would like to work with an Editor to go through it to correct punctuation, format, etc. I'd like my book manuscript to be at the highest level it can be before submitting it to Australian publishers. I understand the very small percentage of manuscripts that are actually published in this day and age by mainstream publishers, especially within Australia. My goal publishers are Black Inc. Books ([login to view URL]), Allen & Unwin ([login to view URL]), Text Publishing ([login to view URL]) or Pan MacMillan ([login to view URL]).

My manuscript deals with the following subject matters; homosexuality, gay rights, world travel, crime, rape, suicidal tendencies and mental health. I would like to work with an Editor on a chapter by chapter basis but overall the manuscript will be approximately 70,000 words.
