I need a business plan written for a non profit company I am about to start. I already own and operate a for profit company for over 25 years now. I have a USA utility patent on the use of a mathematical formula in hardware and software applications. The formula calculates overall efficiency in a heating system. I estimate that with the popularization of the formula we can drastically reduce Carbon Dioxide use through out the USA and the rest of the world. I won first place several times in a peer reviewed nationwide Heating design contest. One year in the same design contest I won "Best in Show" with the highest points total in the over 10 year history of the competition. Patent No# 7200468. The plan is to start a non profit organization to fund the development of a new energy efficiency standard. The plan would be implemented in different phases.
Phase 1) We go into houses and install sensors and collect data on heat loss of houses and do Audits of the Overall Efficiency of existing heating systems. We collect information into a data base. We look to compare different methods of collecting the data. We modify the methods of the audits on a continue basis. We continue this pattern until satisfied with the way we collect information and do these audits.
Phase 2) We launch a HVAC design contest measuring the overall efficiency of different heating systems. Substantial cash awards are given to the winners up to third place in different categories. We audit the winners of the contest to make sure there are no cheaters. We load the data and efficiency numbers of all heating systems along with a lengthily description of the design and function of each system.
Phase3) We start a certification process for both Auditors and Designers of Heating systems. One company having both Auditors and Designers could not work as both jobs on the same project together. We start an educational process to teach quality energy efficiency design to paid members of our organization. We build seminars and advertise at trade shows.
Phase4) We continually modify the testing methods Auditors use to improve accuracy and fairness. We continually audit and test existing heating systems to learn about efficiency. We have a contest for overall efficiency once a year with substantial cash prizes.
Phase5) We develop minimum energy efficiency standards used for the installation of heating systems into houses and buildings. Auditors certify heating systems in houses and buildings for different levels of energy efficiency.
Phase6) We continue with everything in phase 4 except we add the continued testing and modification for the improvement of our energy efficiency standards over the years to come.
Phase7) We retire and find younger replacements to continue our work. They pass the responsibly of the organization down to further generations as they retire.
