We are seeking a skilled and experienced freelance Android developer to create a native OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) scanner app. The required Backend and UI planning for the app has already been completed in Figma, and we require a talented developer to bring it to life. Some of the examples of App like this are- Bluedriver, carista, carscanner, Carly etc.
Responsibilities:
• Develop a native Android app that establishes Bluetooth connectivity with an ELM327 adapter for OBD scanning functionality.
• Implement API integration to facilitate transfer of large amount of data from Server to App and further to the car (via Bluetooth) and vice-versa.
• Implement a secure payment and subscription system within the app.
• Ensure the app's performance, reliability, and responsiveness meet high-quality standards.
• Collaborate closely with our team, including designers and backend developers, to deliver a seamless user experience.
Requirements:
• Strong experience in Android app development, specifically with native app development.
• Proficiency in Java/Kotlin programming language(s).
• Solid understanding of Bluetooth connectivity and its integration with Android apps.
• Experience with API integration and handling JSON data.
• Familiarity with backend systems, particularly hosting on EC2 machines.
• Familiarity with data visualization and display
• Ability to implement a secure payment and subscription system using industry-standard practices.
• Previous experience with Applications requiring high data transfer rates to ensure efficient data collection, processing, and communication in real time is preferable.
• Offline Capability and Data Caching: Knowledge of implementing offline capabilities, caching mechanisms, and local data storage allowing the app to function even when an internet connection is unavailable and enables faster data retrieval from local storage or cache.
• A portfolio or examples of previous Android app development projects would be beneficial.
• Prior knowledge or exposure to OBD scanners and their protocols (e.g., CAN, ISO 15765) is an added plus
The project timeline is expected to be around 3 weeks, so the developer should be able to work efficiently and deliver within the given timeframe.
