<Technology Description>
This technology is designed to improve the safety of automated driving when vehicles are remotely monitored by a monitoring system.
One of the problems with remote monitoring of vehicle safety, in which images captured by in-vehicle camera are sent to a monitoring center and a monitor person at the monitoring center checks the images, is that the monitoring center cannot always monitor vehicle safety when communication between the vehicle and the monitoring center interrupt.
To solve these problems, in this technology, the vehicle in automated driving stops when the vehicle detects an obstacle in its surroundings by the in-vehicle camera and transmits image captured by the in-vehicle camera to the monitoring center. In the monitoring center, a monitor person checks the image, and when the monitor person confirms safety, the monitoring center sends permission signal for the vehicle to restart the automated driving. The vehicle restarts the automated driving after receiving the permission signal. The vehicle may also automatically restart the automated driving when the obstacle is no longer detects by the in-vehicle camera.
