Students are creating an Alumni web site for students of a college; the college is less than 3 years old, with less than 50 current alumni members.

Want to create a unique logo that does not match the college web site's logo, or font used in their logo.

This new logo will be used in web sites, social networks (Twitter, etc.), and potentially on branded merchandise (T-Shirts, Mugs, etc.) so it must be a scalable "vector graphic" that looks good at many sizes. (e.g. SVG, or EPS -- so no bitmaps)

The Alumni logo must be able to appear without text, or optionally with text accompaniment (optionally having the words "Alumni", "InnoTech" and "College" written beside/above/under or around it -- we haven't decided how text will appear, so feel free to enlighten us on what might look best)

Want a logo that will complement the college's logo, so some aspects may be similar (colors, might incorporate use of a light bulb in design), but even these are not required.

Do NOT want a logo that simply takes college's existing logo, and wraps it in something or adds some more text
Do NOT want a logo that uses the same font as the college's logo

Logo should reflect:
- that the college is young (so no wreaths like a 100+ year old college might have in their logo)
- that the college is multi-cultural (students are from many ethnic backgrounds, and diverse in age/race/sex/income)
- that this is a Alumni association of trained "IT professionals" ( so no shields, cars, animals, sports metaphors or flags in the design )
- that the college primarily teaches web development, data science, etc.
- that the courses taught at the college are very short ( anywhere from 3 days to 8 months )
- that the courses "launch/rocket/catapult/accelerate/evolve" the students into a new career
- that the Alumni are encouraged to build upon their new skills (lifelong learning), share ideas and work collaboratively with others in their new careers, and network within the existing Alumni and with future Alumni (provide a hand up, give back to those that follow, push forward, etc.)

We've narrowed down the submissions to eight finalist and have put those before the Alumni members for voting.

The designs have been well received, and a lot of positive feedback is being received.

We want to give every one of our Alumni a chance to vote, so we've decided to extend the voting duration by one extra week.

The contest winner will be awarded on Tuesday, April 24, 2018.

We are getting close to the closing date of the contest (25 hours remain), and I just wanted to clarify the process after the content submissions close.

When the contest closes (approximately 11:22 PM on April 11, 2018 Mountain Standard Time) it will be late in the evening in Canada.

Starting on the following day (Thursday, April 12, 2018) a small group of individuals in the InnoTech College will review the entries submitted, debating the merits of each to reduce the list to the top 8 candidates over a 72 hour period (until midnight Saturday, April 14).

Starting on April 15, the 8 candidates will be put forward to a larger audience, and voted upon for a 72 hour period (From April 15 to 17th).

This means that the winning contest owner will be announced and the contest winner will be awarded on April 17 or 18th.

For those submitting, please read the requirements:

1) We clearly stated that the logo must stand alone without the text (therefore a text only logo is less likely to win this contest)

2) We are NOT redesigning the college's logo (But some of the redesigns are impressive).
This contest is for the "Alumni" logo; if your design includes text, it should include "Alumni" in the text and it likely should not just be text that is the name of the college.

3) Any submission with misspellings will be rejected. It is spelled "College"

4) If we give your logo a one star rating it says something -- we think it is bad, we hate it, it will never win, it is out of the competition (and the one star rating is a signal to others to drop that idea )

5) If we did not give your logo submission a star rating, we're still considering it as a possible candidate.

6) If it has a thumbs up; we really like where you are going but a reserving judgment until we see other submissions.
