Hi, I'm looking for some export help this Friday, to understand what's in my .htaccess file, re-arrange lines as needed, to make better sense, etc., add any recommended lines, remove unnecessary lines, and help me switch smoothly from HTTP to HTTPS. I have a commented-out line that's suppose to perform the HTTP-to-HTTPS redirect, but there are some possible issues with it.
I'm on Wordpress running on a Litespeed server, which is compatible with Apache. The .htaccess file is 6800K and is about 170 lines, much of it being Wordpress plugin entries, comments and many redirects. It probably won't seem complicated to you, but I tried editing some of it myself and I really don't understand the syntax well enough except to be dangerous. My site is also www.-based, so we want to make sure everyone gets pointed to the www version of the site of visiting the root domain. This is one of the things I want to make sure it's doing correctly. I prefer someone near my timezone (US EST) and who is fluid in English, but timezone can be flexible. I think most of this can be done via chat, but it's possible we may need to do some of this over the phone or Skype.
-HTTPS-:
Related to the .htaccess file, I also need to permanently switch my site over to HTTPS. I have a certificate, so my site is addressable by HTTPS, but there are a few folders I'd like to exclude from forcing HTTP-to-HTTPS redirects on. This should be the only main issue. I can deal with the Google Webmaster Tools and other Google guidelines before enabling the HTTP forward to HTTPS, but I could use any pointers you may have.

I will be most available Friday from about 3pm until 10pm EST to do this. It will probably only take 1-2 hours, but this is when I'll be most available and I'd like to take care of everything that day/night. I hope to settle on someone by Thursday night, or by the latest Friday morning. I'd be happy to share my .htaccess file with those who would like to help me with this and I think may be a good fit. It would also be a big plus if you're experienced with Wordpress. Also, I'd like to keep this in the $60-80 range if possible. Thank you!

Hi :) So I have read your Whole Project post and YES, I am able to help you with HTTP to HTTPS redirect, while KEEPING WWW, and also, we can EXCLUDE specific folders!!
I can speak and write English fluently and yes, if needed, can talk over sk-ype too, after project starts, of course!
Now, note that HTTP to HTTPS redirection for WordPress usually requires some other configuration at Wordpress end too (settings , DB changes etc.) but you said you want to exclude some FOLDERS, so we will have to discuss that :)
Can you send me your existing HTAccess file and also tell me which folders you want to exclude and if they belong to WordPress install or some additional files?

I can help you to update your htaccess file and rewrite rules. I have over 20 years of extensive experience with Apache and its modules, including the mod_rewrite module and have completed many projects with issues similar to yours, over many years.
Moving to HTTPS and/or canonical domain (eg. www-only) is recommended, so you are on the right track there. It does need to be done carefully and correctly as issues with the redirects will cause both penalties by search engines and interruptions/lost visitors.
Wordpress, in particular, does add a number of overlapping/unnecessary code to the htaccess file if you are not careful and it does in many cases have a detrimental effect on performance.
If you would like to send through a copy of your htaccess file the way it is now and a detailed description of the directory exclusions you want to keep from the forced HTTP -> HTTPS redirects (any reason for this? - there may be other alternatives), as well as what version of Apache and if you are running a dedicated or shared server, we can confirm and I can complete the project for you.
