29525 Stock control and epos

For this project we are looking for a system to monitor incoming and outgoing stock levels at a busy restaurant/bar and provide staff with a very simple order placement system (which must be keyboard ONLY driven). It must also allow receipts to be printed once transactions are complete. The system would need to be linked to a database of all items for sale (presently in excel format). Ideally, once a user is logged onto the system they will be presented with a menu (keyboard driven, NOT mouse). This menu would allow them to choose “drink” or “food”, then a further 2 levels of sub categories, finally finishing with a list of products within the chosen category. The user would then select the item and input the quantity required. The system should then list the product and quantity to show the user what has been chosen, add the prices together of the product or products chosen, and then present the user with the original menu choices of “food” or “drink” again. It should also subtract the quantities requested from the stock levels presently in the database, log the quantities requested in a separate database and allow the user to print a receipt on a thermal receipt printer once the transaction is complete. The separate database to log quantities requested is required to allow the delivery of reports on an hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis, showing the sales of the separate products. It must also show which user was logged on at the time of order placement. We would like this system to be Windows XP based, potentially using visual basic, but we are open to suggestions on the software. Also the database is presently in Excel format, but we are happy to use whichever database software you suggest. The receipts themselves will be printed on a Samsung STP-103 thermal printer – This allows printing of up to 42 characters per line, and each receipt would need to include the establishments name at the top of it, unique sequential ID numbers on each receipt, the items and quantities ordered, individual prices (totalised) of each item and a final total. There may also be other additions necessary such as vat and other taxes, company registration number details etc, but these will be confirmed once the project commences. There must also be a simple administration section from which stock levels can be adjusted, add or delete users who have access to the system and provide them with logon ID's and to provide and print the reports mentioned above (on a separate regular A4 inkjet printer). Again, this entire system must be keyboard controlled only. Ideally, there will be keyboard shortcuts to the different menus, with alternate navigation being managed through use of keyboard arrow keys. The database will be provided and can be adjusted as required (within reason). We would like the work on this project completed within 3-4 days including weekends. Payment would preferably be made through ESCROW.
