Hello,
Thank you very much for your job offer. I believe that I would probably be the most qualified person to get this translated for you. This is because I have a very good knowledge of English grammar, and have a very strong interest in old and middle English, as well as other Germanic languages in general (I also know German). I have researched etymologies of words very much, and am making translations into a type of English that is much closer to old English in its vocabulary. I have read a lot in middle English, and some in old. I can't really say I know old English - and no one today of course is a native speaker of it! - however, I would translate it by hand very carefully with the help of dictionaries, to ensure that it is translated very carefully and accurately. I do already understand the basic grammar, structure, and style. I have an extremely high attention to detail, so I'm not just satisfied putting it into some translator (although there really isn't anything like that for OE) and adjusting it quickly. I can also do a sample of 1 sentence for free in order to see if I would be a good fit for the project. I hope you consider hiring me to ensure your job gets done. For instance, I have no idea how the translating agencies, which almost all of the translating bids are, are going to be able to translate into old English! Gōd dæġ! Ic hopiġe fram ēow sōna tō hīeran.
Sincerely,
Eric Schiefelbein
