Thai Translation for Qualitative Research project in Rural Thailand

This is a qualitative research project which will require a commitment for two phases. Phase 1 will require making evening phone calls to five participants (all children), for five days. - que them to begin their brief audio diary - record the phone call - thank the participant and remind them to expect a phone call the following day - transcribe the audio diary submission - translate the Thai transcripts into English language - submit Thai language transcripts and English translation by the following day. Phase 2 will entail in-depth, structured telephone interviews with each of the five participants individually and will occur within one or two weeks from the completion of phase one. A list of questions in English will be provided to the candidate several days ahead of time. A different set of questions will be provided for each participant and each will require translation into Thai language prior to the interview. These interviews will be: - recorded - transcribed into Thai language - translated into English - sent to the lead researcher as translations are completed Ideally, all five interviews will also be accomplished in one day (a Saturday or a Sunday), though the possibility of scheduling conflicts and the importance of this aspect of the project could potentially require a second day. Outside of these two phases, an ideal candidate will be a native Thai speaker. Also, the ideal candidate would have interviewing experience and a willingness to work with the lead researcher via phone or video conference to understand the purpose of the study and its focus on family dynamics and academic resilience before data collection begins to ensure the collection of relevant and valid data.
