Hi, I have 2 masters inc. 1 in IT which I think place me well to deliver. I recently created a db and front-end that is in use by over 100 companies in the US - so good in fact that we are pulling users away from the competition. What makes it so good: performance, a modern and user friendly interface, powerful logic, and a flexible feature set. So much so in fact that I recommend keeping your front-end in Access as it is far more powerful (esp. with VBA) and flexible than an HTML interface. Dev. time will also be less. Obviously you are replacing an aging Access database but that is not to say that a new and modern front-end, built from scratch, won't suit your needs far far better. Please see my profile for examples of user interfaces (and reviews). So we build the back-end in MS SQL: multi-user reliability and performance required for a responsive front-end. Highly recommend we build the new front-end in Access. Please don't be put off by your previous experiences with Access. Designed in the correct way, in terms of presentation, flow, and logic, it really will be a modern, powerful, and first-class application rather than mere db. I guarantee that any shortcomings you've experienced with Access (esp. multi-user) will be eliminated. MS SQL + Access were made for each other. Can develop this for you using PHP. You will host the PHP code on an Apache webserver running internally in your organization. The MS Access database will be upgraded to MS-SQL (back-end), and the front-end will be developed using PHP. I am unable to provide a time frame, as I have yet to see the Access database. Hi - Access and MSSQL are cousins from the same family so guess your choice of software is thoughtful. While the latter is more sophisticated with improvised sybase engine under the hood as against the former which is not even a rdbms they interact with each other quite well. Are you planning to host mssql on Azure or will it be stand alone. Any idea on multiple instances and clustering. Well we can interact and figure out the needs too.
