Use automated program to merge text data and excel data

Dear Employer, As you said Cooperation can be CO or Co-op, we would need to discuss all such possibilities information of which you would need to share with me (like INC for INCORPORATED, LTD for Limited etc). So we will discuss once and I will write a code that will check these combinations. Like it wil first check LTD for LLimited and the Limited for LTD. Also I will keep it dynamic so you can yourself add any new combination or modify existing one. Rest I need to discuss what will happen if company name doesnt match like I didnt find UNITED ILLUMINATING CO in the list of companies. May be its on full file that you have. We can automate more things, I have few in mind. Please message me, I dont say this can be fully automated as its based on a lot of uncertainities but I iwll surely make a good tool. To answer your questions I do understand that you may hire multiple people and I don't know many examples but company and co., incorporated and inc, limited liability company and llc, public and pub, national association and na, and other abbreviations would be expected. I have experience working with excel files as well as semi-structured data files (like the text file you uploaded). Also I am a python expert and I can automate this.

Hey there :) This is Sourabh Gupta from New Delhi. I am an advanced Excel VBA programmer. I have checked both the files you attached. I understand the requirements of the project. To answer both your questions - 1. Yes, I do understand that. 2. Some other examples can be "Association", "Incorporation". If we have to fully automate the program then what we need to do is collect all search words and create a list. This list will be used by the program to match words. If inspite of all tries program still cant find the company name then it will create a list of names that did not match and we can keep expanding our list of words that might be different. Also, in case match is not found then we can also make the code such that it searches specific words from the company name and gives us the closest possible match found or something like that. I will create a Perl script using public domain modules to process an Excel document to add a column linking to closely matching filenames. The close matches shall be done using regular expressions to equate patterns that will match equivalent values. For example, your example can be matches as /\bCorporation\b|\bCorp\b|\bCo\b/ That regular expression matches Corporation or Corp or Corp. or Co or Co. but not Country when the \b (boundary) match is applied. No. I won't give you a full set of values to test. I don't supply free labour. I will prepare a modest set of examples in a configuration file which you can extend for your purposes. I will include a tutorial on creating regular expressions if you require it. A milestone payment for the full budget for your project must be deposited with this site before your offer can be accepted. For example: incorporation -> Inc. limited liability company -> LLC limited -> Ltd professional corporation -> PC professional association -> PA service corporation -> SC charted -> Chtd company -> Co limited company -> LC For handling this problem we can create a list of these abbreviations and write code to replace them with each other. Hi I understand you may hire multiple freelancers. Approximate matching of "Co" with either "Company" and "Corporation" is described in para 3. I have reviewed the sample text and excel files. I propose to provide a solution using Excel VBA environment. The program will loop open each text file in turn; From this text file, we can extract the company name because it is preceded with "Company conformed name:" COMPANY DATA: COMPANY CONFORMED NAME: UNITED ILLUMINATING CO CENTRAL INDEX KEY: 0000101265 Now we perform an exhaustive partial match of "UNITED ILLUMINATING CO" in column A of the spreadsheet. We would not get "UNITED ILLUMINATING Enterprise" or "UNITED ILLUMINATING INC"; but we would get "THE UNITED ILLUMINATING CO" or "UNITED ILLUMINATING COMPANY" or "UNITED ILLUMINATING CORPORATION"; We put the text file name in column F correspondingly. In the case of more than 1 match, the column A and F pair is logged in message box at the end of program run for user's information. Opening and closing each text file is a slow process. You may wish to consider how many text files are to be processed in one operation. Regards KC

This will save time in searching files and allows multiple iterations. For the company name, the fastest way may be to create another tab and have the original name and a column of standardized name: (Eg: replace "Tom Goh LLC" with "Tom Goh Corporation"). This will maximize the matching accuracy. For every matched record, we will set a flag on the imported data, so that we know which row has been matched. At the end, we may still have to do a manual cleanup for those records that are missed. we will search in both tabs and then try to reconcile the data.
