This project is to design and implement a real-time collaborative text editor using operational transformation (OT) technique for concurrency control and for consistency maintenance of replicated documents. You may implement a server-based OT solution or a P2P-based OT solution using state vectors. The editor should at least allow multiple users to freely edit any part of the shared text document simultaneously. A more advanced level would offer a unique feature that is not commonly available in existing systems, such as switch between synchronous and asynchronous, a special interaction paradigm like single actor/multiple viewer, asymmetric roles, subgroup congruence, or any other idea you like to try. You may choose any development environment such as Java, C++, C#, or Web and any running platform such as Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, Web, or Android/iOS. Some notes are as follows. • Don’t implement an editor. Choose any existing editor that either provides a good API for you to extend or simply source code for you to modify. The mimimum API you need is to intercept text changes (insert, delete) to the document and to replay insert/delete operations back onto the document. • You should also implement at least one awareness feature such as color- coding, telepointer, radar view or fish-eye view.
