Description is a little bit vauge for example what do you mean by similar text based data ? do you mean data delimited by either comma "," as csv or tab " " as tsv ? if that so then of course yes you can parse and store it as wanted and for scraping form html i suggest lxml over beautifulsoup( i work with bs4 too but it only supports css selectors) for xpath support which is more powerful parser.
