I have a database which contains a table that stores projects such as Movies, Television Shows, Theatre, Music Videos etc. In a series of other tables, there is information stored that relates to each of these projects, such as who the producers are, who the director is, the date that the project starts, the location etc. This information is linked via a foreign key field.

Our database contains many duplicates of the same projects. For example, the same TV show might be in the database 3 separate times - but some records might contain more information than others.

I would like to create a module in PHP that will allow the user to find duplicate projects and merge them. The merge would essentially gather all of the information associated with the projects, delete any replications, update only ONE of the projects and delete the rest. There are approximately 5 other tables that contain data which is linked to the projects table.

There should be a landing page that allows the user to "confirm" before the merge & delete occurs.
