Hi. As I understand your website is hosted on DreamHost? What DB you are using? If you are using DreamHost then you need to follow step 1: "Step 1 — Enable DreamObjects and create a Bucket" to create this DreamObjects and give me the credentials, bucket name so that I could work on backup script. Or if you give me your account login I could do that. How many days do you want to keep backup? Is this separate for DB and website? Thx, let me this details and we can discuss more?

I looked over the Dreamhost DreamObjects article you linked to. It looks extremely straight forward and easy to work with using Python. I've been using Python daily for nearly 6 years now and have used it to create server administration tasks dozens of times. I would create a gzip file of your website directory and make a mysqldump of your database and include that in that archive before uploading it to S3.
