We are currently using a script called Freelance Cockpit 3, which comes with an integrated helpdesk system for ticketing. We require a feature to be added, which is the ability to automatically create tickets based on emails sent to a specific address. For example:
if an customer sends a mail to help@[login to view URL], the php server should:
1- Acquire the mail
2- capture the sender
3- capture the content of the object
4- capture the contents of the mail body
5- capture any attachment
6- Once collected, these data must be placed in the web portal by generating a new ticket, which has a new id.
7-The server will automatically send an email confirmation that a ticket has been created for the sender

this can be easily done with SMTP and IMAP/POP3
this will read the mail from the server using IMAP then call the function to create the ticket.
after the ticket is created it will use SMTP to sent confirmation mail
we have done this previously for a ISP helpdesk ticketing system
