For this project, we must create a custom import function in php that will add data to a set of Advanced Custom Fields in a Wordpress Custom Post.
Wordpress + ACF
What we have :
-A custom post type with ACF fields including a repeater field containing several text fields and one image field.
-A template file for this custom post type. (this is not to be developed)
-A fixed width text file containing the data to import.
-A ZIP file containing jpeg images.
What we need to be done :
-A system that will extract the data from the fixed width text file based on the length of the strings, and automatically populate ACF fields. There are no separators in the file, ie : 3 first characters = this_ACF_field, 4 next characters = this_other_ACF_field ...etc, etc, and many strings in the file must simply be ignored (please see attached sample and documentation inside the sample file)
-A system that will download and extract a zip file containing jpeg images, and automatically populate ACF image fields base by alphabetical order.
-Create a JS filter on the front end that will show items containing a keyword (see attached sample), and hide items not containing the keyword on the front end.
What we will be doing with this system :
-Several times a month, an editor will create a new post of the custom post type.
-He will import the fixed width text file, the data contained inside the text file will automatically populate the ACF fields, automatically creating a new repeater at every new line, but also ignoring some empty lines in the text file.
-He will import the ZIP file containing the images that will automatically populate the ACF image fields based on their alphabetical order.
All this process must be automated, we cannot base our work on an import plugin that will require to manually map the fields every time an import is made.
You will find a sample of the txt file, with, starting from line 23, a documentation about the structure of the file, and where the data must be extracted.
Requirements :
You must have a good knowledge of ACF, and of course, solid background in php.
