I want to automate the process of generating my own proposals.
I should be able to enter standard pieces of text (plus images) and hourrates via an interface into a database. Tagging the information and assigning it to a certain category. The categories can be different services or products e.g. webdesign, search engine positioning, etc.
The final proposal has to consist of a letter, introtext, description of the project and the way we'll handle it, overview of the cost, discount%, time estimation, contract and general conditions.
After entering/selecting a clientname, hourrates plus discount% and a category, the selection process of different pieces of information starts. Choosing a certain category will eliminate certain texts that will not be applicable for the chosen category. Finally by clicking the enter button the proposal will be [login to view URL] output has to go to MS Word/Crystal Reports or ... ? As long as it can be saved (as PDF/DOC/ ...) and printed.
I'd prefer to make use of the system via a webinterface using the (XML/.NET) techniques. Plus I'd like to be flexibel to change the code myself. Clear and well documented code is therefore essential.
I'm open for any suggestions on the programming language and dbase to use.
Thanks for your reply,
Marc
