Integrate GOOGLE CALENDER into charity's online portal

High-Level Requirements for Integration of Google Calendar: At Students Offering Support, we have an internal volunteer portal that is used by 1200 volunteers across North America. Many of these students have asked to have events and activities that are for their volunteer work shared via the popular google calendar. Currently we have been using a simple open source calendar, but it is not sharable with individual calendar and there is no flexibility as to creating new calendars etc. So we want to integrate google calendar into our portal so that: 1. All of our automatically generated internal events / meetings / activities can show up in the appropriate local or national calendar. 2. Volunteers can create their own events/meetings through a simple form that would show up on the appropriate google calendar. 3. Volunteers can connect their sos calendar through the portal to their personal gmail calendar so that they can share it and their activities with SOS will show up on their personal gmail interface. In regards to the ideal functionality, here is what we are looking for: In our organization, there is a national entity (named “SOS national” for this document) that supports all of the university campus clubs (named “SOS chapters”). Each SOS chapter operates independently with their own meetings and teaching sessions (we operate by running exam-prep review sessions before exams held by our volunteers), and we use the portal to empower them with the tools to manage their operations. SCALE OF CALENDARS: So with this, in regards to the scale, we want calendars for the SOS national (1) and calendar for each SOS chapter (23 currently, growing each year) that get created with the creation of new chapters. For each of the 24 entities (national + chapters) we would like a calendar for each department which would be connected to the national or chapter master calendar. (ie: National calendar would show on it national meetings etc, as well as the PR calendar, the Outreach Calendar, the Finance calendar.. and on the chapter calendar, it would show the logistics calendar, the marketing calendar, the outreach calendar. Etc) If the process of creating new calendars can be done seamlessly, we would like each user account to have their own calendar as well.. so then if you are a user, all of your personal task due dates would show up in YOUR calendar, but then you would be part of a department, so you’d be able to see your department’s calendar events on yours as well as the chapter general calendar. Technical Requirements: Our system uses a mySQL database and PHP as the server language. For this module, we would want this calendar to be embedded into our system (so not requiring our users to go to [login to view URL] to access this, but be integrated within our portal ([login to view URL]) to have our header/footer and able to navigate back to their pages. POPULATING EVENTS: In integrating google calendar to our system, ideally (I don’t know the capabilities of the google API.. so I am open to being flexible).. but we would like to be able to code in SQL queries that would pick up various activities and events that are populated in various tables in the database, so that calendar events are PULLED by google from our db: Example: We have Exam-prep sessions that are entered into the portal. To make things less error-prone, it would be best if google calendar could query the list of sessions and populate the proper calendar with the session information. (date, start time, end time, chapter name are all in this table)). The other way that could work (if easier) is that we would put in function calls from our php handlers on various parts on the site that would call a function like googleCalCreate($chaptername, $type, $date, $starttime, $endtime, $department).. where $type would be like ‘Exam-AID’, ‘Meeting’, ‘Social’ etc.. that we would put in that name..
