I would like someone who has experience in API/DLL's to help me out with API Hooking and DLL Injection into an existing application. I've read some articles about this, but can't seem to find what I'm looking for. With that said, here's the scenerio and a couple possible solutions (and I would like you to tell me which may be better). This should be a pretty simple task for someone with the know-how.
**Scenerio**
In AOL Instant Messenger (AIM), when you choose the Font Options in the user Preferences, the Color Dialog pops-up but is only set to allow Solid Colors for the Font and IM Window Background. The custom colors button is disabled.
**Solution 1**
Create a DLL that can be injected into AIM that overwrites the Color Dialog settings AIM is using and uses the Color Dialog settings from the injected DLL instead (enabling Custom Colors).
**Solution 2**
Create an EXE application and DLL that will allow the user to set custom IM Window/Font Colors.
*** I would like this done in Visual Studio .NET/C++ and well-commented so I can learn the process and continue to build on it!
