How to use LaTeX to add tooltip to image with tooltip annotation widget in hidden state. This project is based on the simple method to add tooltip to an image with: \usepackage{pdfcomment} \pdftooltip{\includegraphics{[login to view URL]}}{This is the ALT text} This appears to work visually, however my requirement is that the background annotation widget button holding the tooltip must be 'hidden' for use in a downstream processor. Unless it is hidden the button mouse event handler is active, causing interference. This can be set by editing with Adobe Acrobat Pro but I need it set directly by the LaTeX code please. The PDF object generated by 'pdftooltip' is: 12 0 obj << /Type /Annot /Subtype /Widget /TU (This is the ALT text) /T (tooltip zref@0) /C [ ] /FT /Btn /F 768 /Ff 65536 /H/N /BS << /W 0 >> /Rect [133.768 398.921 477.479 667.198] >> endobj This project needs help from someone who has strong skills in TeX (LaTeX, MiTeX) and low-level PDF structures. Sample PDF and .tex files available for the developer.

I write all of my papers and presentations in LaTeX, so I have plenty of experience with it. In addition, I have experience with the PyPDF2 library in Python, and I have written software which handles PDF files in the past.
