Title: Assessment of Grid Voltage Rise Due To Interconnection of A Large Solar Farm

Description:

Global warming has been a threatening problem in recent decades which results in worldwide desert expansion, temperature increase and sea level rise. In energy sector, the conventional electricity generation process by burning fossil fuels have emitted greenhouse gases, which are known to be the main cause of global warming. Renewable energy serves as an excellent countermeasure since it is a non-depleting indigenous resource that produce insignificant waste pollutants.

Therefore, renewable-based distributed generation has emerged as a preferred resource choice in energy sector in efforts to reduce the greenhouse gases emissions. Despite the environmental benefits, the technical aspects of renewable-based distributed generation integration to the power grid need to be carefully assessed since these resources are intermittent in nature and relied heavily on weather conditions.

Therefore, this project has the objective to assess the impact of interconnection of a large solar farm on the grid voltage rise problem. The solar system together with the control strategy will be simulated in MATLAB/Simulink software. A generic power grid will also be designed to study the effect of solar farm connection.

As i know, we need to build a model for solar system

1. What model solar?

2. using bisolar or else?

3. connected to the power grid, and then build the Matlab model to find what is the the problem for voltage rise issue

- need simulation results for model and result (Deadline: 2/10)
