We need an engineer with practical, direct experience writing Audio Server Plugins and user-space drivers for macOS. Please do not apply if you do not have this experience. If you have written Audio Server Plugins or worked with kernel extensions which are now deprecated, and converted them into DriverKit-based user space system extensions, this is right up your alley. Please tell us about what you have done in your application. You should be familiar with the macOS HAL, Core Audio, and USB driver development. Experience working with Audio Server Plugins to enhance the behavior of USB Class-Compliant Audio devices would be a definite advantage. Please be specific as to your experience as this is a role which will require direct expertise. You will be advising us as well as developing the Audio Server Plugin.

Hello I am a macOS system software engineer. I've created USB comm software as well as kernel extensions (network filtering, device drivers and kexts for intercepting devices before they are matched by the system services). At IOKit level I enumerated, matched with, and interacted with HID, CDC and "bulk"/printer USB devices (from user-mode apps). My CoreAudio related experience is building low level audio recording code (for network streaming) based on Audio Queues, creating Audio Units (Mac version of VST plugins for DAWs like Logic and MainStage), working with CoreMIDI, DSP algorithms. A lot of this history is reflected in my past projects here on freelancer. What kind of device are you building the server plugin for?

Hi,I read your job description and you ask first tell your experience. I wrote many kernel mode drivers for macos and windows. The purpose of those driver to create a virtual environment for virtual box for the purpose of testing .exe file. I also wrote many device drivers including audio drivers. I aslo wrote many plugins for audio devices. As you mentioned for guiding then device drivers are best as compared to kernel driver. Because kernel driver increases vulnerability and sustainability problems. Driverkit framework provides a lot of flexibility to impliment this task. device drivers are easy to manage as compared to kernel extensions. Kernel extensions increase surface area of attack. I have much familiarity with hardware abstraction layer. Please contact with me for further discussion.
