I write poems and fiction. Well, I mainly write wherever I work. I love rhymes and I enjoy clever choice of words in songs. In terms of lyricism, for pop or rnb especially, I'm into sassy, snappy yet always hit the marks, like in songs by NIKI (songs: lowkey, dancing with the devil, la la lost you, shouldnt couldnt wouldnt).
What I'm used to however is either the sharp-witted, cynical tone like Paramore's or the dreamy, metaphorical yet poetic like Lana Del Rey's, Lola Marsh, Flora Cash. Here's a snippet my own recent project:

Title:
Birthday to Our Heartbreaks
v1:
every half a decade
a birthday to our heartbreaks
we crave changes none of us deserves
is this finally "it" or something in reverse
was it a prize behind the curtain?
knowing for sure nothing is certain
empty promises go on record
lines of false hopes we can't afford
ch:
empty stares to the stairs high up
a second-timer never fails to disappoint
shutting down all of the stuck ups
if things never end then what's the point?
soar up like flares, like a short memory
can't call it missing if we don't know what's gone

Yeah the lyrics is about presidential election. I have the tendency to create something from issues and context because I want the lyrics to have something to say and really mean it. I guess pop and rnb also gain mass popularity because of how people can relate to the songs on a personal level.
Of course, I can also do the simply catchy ones. I'm more than willing to explore your style.
