We would like to make a small fun device which includes a sensor to detect a plastic ball that travels through a plastic tube blown by children and gives off an alarm or sound as the attached image.
- the sensor is to detect the fast traveling ball, and the device including the sensor gives off an alarm or sound. no calculation, no data analysis involved.
- user can upload their own audio files up to 3 files at one time by a mini USB port or similar one. the device will play each audio file in turn. each file is up to 5 seconds.
- the color of the ball can be any color.
- the kind of sensor to choose for this application is up to you, but it should be economical and reliable.
- the device with the sensor should be operated by normal batteries like AA or AAA batteries which can be purchased from the market easily.
- in terms of the size of the sensor, the smaller the better.
- the size of the device: the smaller the better, too. hopefully it is smaller than a normal business card size like 9cm*4cm.
- the sensing distance or range: 1~3mm will be enough
- we will use a normal plastic tube like the picture. no development needed for the tube.
- we will make a hole to insert the tip of the sensor. if we don't have to make a hole, it is better.
- this plastic tube and the detecting device might be moving a bit when detecting the ball.
- the case for the device will be discussed later.
