Hello, I'm a senior software engineer with over fifteen years experience. That experience includes working for ValueOptions on AHCCS (Arizona's Health Care Cost Containment System). Part of my duties there involved designing a Windows service that imported medical information from flat files deposited on a secure FTP server. The processes had to pass mustard with 827, 837p, and 837i, just as what you've stipulated here. Those processes, of course, also involved EDI 999 and 277 respectively.
