Shenton Wire, an online publication focusing on financial news and commentary, is seeking experienced financial news writers and editors in Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, India and other Asian locations for equity, currency, commodity and economic news coverage. Strong English writing and communication skills and the ability to read a financial statement are a must. Fluency in a regional language is a plus. You’ll need to be comfortable writing earnings articles, handling spot news and crafting feature stories. The work will be divided into set shifts, with either a morning shift of 6:30 A.M. SINGAPORE time to 11:30 A.M. SINGAPORE time or an afternoon/evening shift of 3:00 P.M. SINGAPORE time to 8:00 P.M. SINGAPORE time. If you’re hired, your shift preference will be taken into consideration, but not guaranteed. The initial contract will be a six-month freelance contract, with the potential for renewal. You will need steady, high-speed internet access throughout your shift and a reasonably up-to-date computer. Using an iPad or tablet computer is discouraged. You will also need a smartphone capable of What’s App and/or Skype calls. Familiarity with Slack and WordPress publishing is helpful as well.
