I am seeking urgent advice regarding a collateral warranty request. I acted as a subcontractor on a project completed in 2019. My subcontract was executed as a deed. In 2026, the main contractor has now asked me to execute a collateral warranty, which was not provided at the time of the project. I am concerned about whether: I am contractually obliged to provide it; Signing now could extend or reset the 12-year limitation period; The proposed wording increases my liability beyond the original subcontract; and There are insurance implications.
