"Funny-looking characters to a westerner

大家好，I’m Felix from DominoChinese and we get hundreds of questions from our students, who are eager to better understand China its culture and obviously, the language, so I want to start answering them here.

Michael has asked us:
What are some Chinese characters that an English speaker might find humorous if explained to them?

This video could become very long but let’s go top 3 for this one .
First one, 囧, which means to be embarrassed basically and it looks just like the face you’d make after a too-loud fart. Jiong.
So next one is two characters but will have to count as one - 凹凸 aotu, it’s used to say bumpy, and I guess that’s what it looks like as well - little bumpy bits of lego
卍 - This one is a bit awkward unless you’re a (look to the side…) well you know… The Germans actually took this one from hinduism where it’s been used for 1000 of years. It still just means swastika in Chinese, though it spins to the left here.
