I need a logo for a project I am working on called “Retro Fresh Gaming”. I restore and sell old 90s/00s era handheld games consoles like the Nintendo Game Boy, Sega Game Gear, Atari Lynx etc. that I have upgraded and modernised (a.k.a. modded) to replace the shell, upgraded with a modern display etc. Currently the focus of my work is on handheld consoles, but I may move onto home consoles at some point. In short, I sell retro handheld gaming consoles, given a fresh modern look - hence “Retro Fresh Gaming”.

I like the idea of a pixel art design for this, though I am not opposed to other ideas. I’m keen to stay away from neon retro style designs since I am focus more on handheld and home consoles rather than arcade machines where the neon look seems to be more prevalent. Some ideas I have been kicking around are using the gameboy shell in the logo since it is such an iconic design, or maybe just the shape of the keypad and buttons. I like the idea of using a logo plus word-mark for “Retro Fresh Gaming”.

I'm looking for something creative, stylish, clean and unique. Having said all of this, you are the designer so feel free to take things in a different direction if you have a good idea. You don't need to take my suggestions as gospel, they are just some ideas I have been kicking around.

I need full a size logo designed for the business, in addition to an avatar logo for use on YouTube/Twitter/Instagram etc. The design should be vector based so that I can scale it for use on different mediums in the future.

Once the logo is finalised, I also need a generic business card design. I will provide the text and details to go on this at the time. It won't be two complicated. Just the logo and website URL on one side, and the QR code for the Facebook page and group on the other.

    Update: I don’t mind the letters ‘RFG’ appearing as part of the logo/avatar (e.g. on the display of the handheld, if used). I just don’t want RFG to be the logo itself.

    Some more feedback:
    I think the words "Retro Fresh" need to have equal weight. "Gaming" can go on the second line.

    It looks strange when it is:

    RETRO
    FRESH GAMING

    Better if it is:

    RETRO FRESH
    GAMING

    It seems people are not understand what I mean about "Handheld Console". A handheld console is a self-contained gaming device that you hold in your hand and has its own screen. THese are all handheld gaming devices: https://thebests.kotaku.com/the-25-best-gaming-handhelds-ranked-1840929205

    This is not the same as a controller for a home console like the PS3. Some submissions are using handlheld controllers when they need to be a device with a screen.

    Thanks everyone for the the submissions so far. Here is some general feedback:

    - I had originally thought that I wanted something using the initials "RFG" but having seen it I have really gone off the idea. I prefer the idea of only using the full name "Retro Fresh Gaming" alongside a logo. This way the logo can be used on its own as an avatar or alongside the "Retro Fresh Gaming" word mark. I want to logo to be a strong brand identity.

    - Some submissions are showing gaming laptops and console controllers. Since my business primarily focusses on handheld gaming, any logo that goes in this direction ideally should be using a handheld device.
